What is going on in Kenya with the government?

I am doing a project on world issues in Kenya, and I decided to focus on the goverment. I am a little confused, and not entirely sure what is happening right now with their government. I know there is an election occuring and there is alot of violence happening because of it. If you could please explain to me whats going on?
