Kenya: Government, good or bad?
I need to know a big amount of information, if possible on how citizens are treated in Kenya by the government, negative or positive. All about corruption and poverty too. P.S If this is the wrong section for asking this...sorry :[ And how much control does the government have?
Public Comments
- its better than most African nations but still very corrupt
- The kenyan government is good. It has really tried by giving free primary education and good health care. But grand corruption is something that the government really need to address as there is massive corruption and less prosecutions. Many commission of enquiries have being formed but nothing is normally concluded
- It all depends on a lot of things. Corruption is high, especially among the police and the government is well aware of this fact. They have tried to improve things. Primary ed is free but of low quality. Transportation has improved because of regulations on the number of people buses and matatus are allowed to carry, which are strictly enforced. Roads are bad. In terms of politics, if you are a Kikuyu in politics, life is much different because Kikuyus dominate political life despite claims of nationalism about ethnic divisions. Women are poorly represented in government and policies reflect this. A move to implement affirmative action by adding 50 Parliament seats exclusively for women was demolished this summer. Poverty is high and can be seen everywhere, especially with the high levels of urban migration. Despite all of this, Kenya is a great and extremely beautiful country. Remember, a government is not the people.
- The Kenya Government is a good Government. It practices rule of law. If you are within the law you need not worry. As for corruption the Government is fighting corruption but the public is finding it hard to live without it. The Government will win the war on corruption when civic education is done to show the public that giving bribes do not pay. There are high hopes.
