  1. Scholarships are courses where the airline pays for your complete training and when you are qualified and begin earning a salary, you pay them back monthly. But the money you give them each month is directly subtracted from your monthly wage so you never really have the money in the first place. If Kenya Airways treat their scholarship applicants the same as every other airline then just apply. If you have a degree (they aren't necessary but competition will be extremely high, so getting one will put you head and shoulders above the people without a degree) and if you really are unable to afford the prices then yeah just apply. See what happens. If they think you are a strong candidate they would probably take you on.
  2. There pretty much aren't any airlines that still do this kind of thing. This practice was common in the 1960s, but not so much any more. If you are a Kenyan citizen, there might be some sort of government program in place, but generally speaking, they tend to hire people who are either a) ex military, b) the children of rich people who are sent to the US for civilian flight training, or c) previously trained pilots who have paid for their own training and now want to work for that particular company. Best of luck to you, its a fun job. And where there's a will there's a way so keep your chin up even if it looks expensive
