Is it safe to travel to Kenya?
I was thinking of traveling to Kenya this summer, but saw that the State Department put out a travel advisory. Does anyone know what it is like to travel there?

- There are travel risks for US citizens in Kenya at this time. You can see the latest travel warnings and get travel information on the US Department of State web site. The latest warning on Kenya is at http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/tw/tw_923.html You should register with the State Department if you decide to travel there.
- i just got back and I loovee Kenya, i'm from north. If you go to tourist places like safari place then no problem ,they are so nice there, it was the nicest place ever i stayed in. But don't trust anyone and never ever give out personal info, not even email. If you go to like nairobi, the market you'll have lots of 'friends', rafiki, and you'll have like 6 guys pulling you to their store all at once but just ignore them as if you dont know anyone is there. Only speak to the person who's store is actualy belongs to and never tell them what your looking for cuz then they will b offended if they find u something and u should pay extra cuz they helped u, so dont do that. but go there for sure!
- Kenya's great. It's my home country but i don't live there so when i visit it's great. The people are friendly and helpful. You shoud go and have a lot of fun. Love it.
- Believe me Nairobi is not safe any more.Political crisses here and there.Workers demo, students and dons strikes,Leavealone doctors and socialworkers on turmoil every now and then.Currently there is tag of war btn opposition party and their leaders! In the Northern part of the country somalis are killing and robbing people especially white ones.Plz do not dare to be there for holiday.Probabily if you want to visit East Africa Tanzania is the best .
- Kenya is safe, only Americans are targeted thro' Kenya sometimes.
- Jambo! i have lived in kenya all my life i can assure you this is the safest and most peaceful country to visit in Africa if not the world. Despite the travel advisory, thousands of americans visit kenya every year and hundreds of thousands from other regions of the world. it is safer to walk in the streets of Nairobi than in New york, Los angeles, jo'burg e.t.c those who say there is violence here have their facts wrong. However just like in any other part of the world there is crime here and there on a small scale. visit magicalkenya.com to find out more about kenya and what it has to offer. we are looking forward to hosting you. have a good safari!
