- I don't know what you mean by jabs but you have to take cool clothing and sunscreen because the sun and the heat are monster harsh in Africa if you go red and blotchy in the sun rethink this because this will not be an ideal vacation .August should be okay though because thats towards the end of thier winter which is very warm in comparison.
- the jabs you need if you are traveling to kenya are 1;yellow fever 2;typhod 3;hep b & c you can get this information from any travel agent or web site
- If the country you are coming from has YELLOW FEVER, you will need a certificate proving you have been vaccinated. If there is no yellow fever, certificate is not needed, unless you are also passing through an area that is. Most vaccinations / or medications are recommended only. Depending on the area you will be traveling to, will determine which is needed. Your doctor should be able to help you with this. I went for two weeks, and the only medication I took was for Malaria. I also had 'jabs' for Heptitis A, and Tetanus. I am going back in August also, and will only need the Malaria medication. I strongly recommend you find out about specific health issues in the cities you will be going to and and take the necessary precautions. Take MOSQUITO Repellent (nights mostly, or depending on your destination). Most places have Mosquito Nets available. Have a great trip, be sure to drink Bottled water...you should be fine! I loved it and I am going back.
- http://www.cdc.gov/travel/vaccinat.htm The US Centers for Disease Control has a great web site with a map, you just click on where you're going and it gives you the immunizations you need. Here's their page on East Africa, which applies to Kenya. http://www.cdc.gov/travel/eafrica.htm#vaccines It's very important to talk to your doctor before you go. There are lots of medical conditions that can't be treated in Kenya. Also, you may be taking a medication that might interact with something you need for Kenya. You don't want to have a drug reaction 10,000 miles from home! Bon voyage
